BHRFC Cavaliers v Weybridge Vandals

Won 51-12

Great start to the season, congratulations to the boys.

Even though the team comfortably won there was a sense that we left with some unfinished business. Perfect blistering execution in the first period saw the team run in 4 fantastic team tries. The game was virtually over and so the pace of the game changed. The boys then tried to do too much themselves and didn’t quite finish their team moves that were coming so easy in the first period. Coupled with some handling mistakes at key moments throughout periods 2 and 3 probably left a further 4 tries off our score card. It was disappointing we didn’t put the opposition to the sword, however it was interrupted by; the boys knowing they had already won, the strange 3 x 20 minute periods and all our momentum being constantly zapped by the referee’s whistle that may have been trying to engage the other team more into the game…something that we may have to live with during the entire season.

All in all a fantastic start, showing the exciting rugby that we can play, yet with room for improvement. Congratulations boys, you made yourselves, supporters, coaches and team mates proud.

Positives:

Support Work
Clear Outs
Physicality and Intensity

Things to improve:

Highlight:

A Surrey RFU guy watching the game (after the first period) stating he had never seen an U15 team play like we did…ever!

Play of the Day:

Jay dropping the ball over the try line – too funny!
