Good morning all

It’s hard to believe that two months have passed since our end of season awards day and it is less than 2 months until the start of the season! I hope you and your children have enjoyed the break!

A number of teams have started pre-season fitness sessions – U12s and U13/U15 girls at the club on a Wednesday evening and U13s-U15s on a Sunday morning.

Some key dates for your diary – training restarts on Sunday 1st September with all teams training at home at the club.

  • Before then, there is a fun tag tournament this Sunday from 9:30 – all are welcome to get a team together – mixed ages, boys and girls, parents.
  • If you fancy playing a bit of rugby but in the most gentle way possible, why not get along to walking rugby on a Wednesday evening at the club – great fun and great social.
  • If you want to test your old grey matter out, why not get a team together and join the next quiz night at the club on Friday 26th July.

For more details on all of the above, please check out the club website.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the Burgess Hill Bonfire Society. To mark the occasion we are keen to get representatives from every age group along to join the parade on the evening of Saturday 28th September. Put the date in your diary and watch out for more details.

I am pleased to advise that we have had some success in recruiting new volunteers to some of the roles for which we have vacancies but more are still needed!

Liz Collingbourne has taken on the role of vice-chair for the youth section; Sarah Burlumi and Louisa Rogers have jointly taken on the Membership Secretary role; Shelley Richardson will be the new club Welfare Officer and Tanith Goodenough is taking on kitchen manager role.

We still desperately need a minis fixture secretary to work with Graham this year – if we don’t get a volunteer to help, it will fall upon the shoulders of your coaches to organise or the teams won’t get the same number of fixtures/festivals/joint training opportunities as they are used to. The key dates are booked but we need someone to work with Graham on an ongoing basis through the season to liaise with team coaches and festival organisers re team entries. If you can spare an hour or so each week to help with this crucial role, please do get in touch.

Enjoy the rest of the summer and hope to see some of you around at pre-season training sessions.
