Another great day for rugby yesterday with a busy Club in the morning and the afternoon. Great to see so many people down supporting the Black Widows yesterday afternoon. A very entertaining match made all the better by the ladies securing a victory with a couple of great late tries.
The U14 boys travelled to Brighton with a team short of numbers due to holidays, school trips and illness but played a great 14 a side match and emerged victorious 39-20. I am sure Neil will add a report to website / Club Facebook page in due course.
The U12 boys had a friendly at home against a very strong Heathfield side. By all accounts a very creditable performance and lots of positives to take into their next couple of matches in November.
It was great to see a number of new girls turning up for training with the U13s – a massive well done to Louise Blunt who has worked really hard getting into local schools to run taster sessions – over 60 girls turned up a session at Warden Park School last week.
On the subject of recruitment of new players, we are always in need in of more players, some age groups in particular could do with as much support as possible getting new players in. The U10s are actively contacting local schools to encourage more players along – if you know of any boys or girls in Year 5 who might be interested, please do encourage them along.
Attached to this newsletter (and will posted to club website) is a kitchen rota to the end of the year. This has been done on the assumption that the weather will continue to be kind and the pitch conditions stay good. If they deteriorate and some age groups move to the 3G at BHA, I’ll update this. Meantime, can you please note when your age group has the allocated time and coordinate amongst your fellow parents to fill the rota. It has worked pretty well so far and it has been great to see so many new faces helping out. U13/14 parents – a separate note will come out this week re helping with home match this Sunday.
Finally, the Men’s 1st team are home this coming Saturday with lots going on at the Club throughout the day. If you can get along to support and enjoy the fun – you will be made very welcome.
