Last Sunday saw the U11s host Steyning RFC in joint training and matches at Southway Rec.

The conditions were almost perfect for Poveys Close, sodden clay pitches combined with the remnant's of storm Bert!

Any thoughts of witnessing "Joue" rugby went out of the window as players battled to stand up in the ensuing swill.

The "Poveys purist" would have loved what ensued which was a good old fashioned mudfest with teams being indistinguishable within 5 minutes.

Despite the conditions, both Steyning and Burgess Hill showed tremendous skill, pace and resilience scoring a bucket load of tries.

At the end of the matches the usual players of the week were awarded with the Hill winner being Henry M who has clearly been watching Sleightholm junior as he couldn't stop scoring!

Despite having to be hosed off before going home everyone had smiles on faces.
