Burgess Hill Under 12 Boys welcomed Worthing Warriors for a league match.
The home team started the brightest and soon had Worthing pinned back for a sustained spell.
Hill were well organised and determined. This pressure led to our man of the match, Benjamin, scoring the opening try.
Worthing responded well and were rucking with intensity and they soon got two tries back, both with some quick decisions and good running. Despite some fast closing down from Hill, Worthing managed to get another try just on half time.
Not much for coach Chris to tinker with as Hill were disciplined and passing well. There were no substitutes available, so more of the same was called for.
Again, Hill started the brightest, and the best try of the match came from Hill winning a ruck, making two quick passes and then the evergreen Chester jinking past a couple of backs to score. It was so pleasing to watch, with applauds from both sets of supporters.
Credit to Worthing for coming straight back and again with their strong rucking and running. They scored two more tries to end the match 10-25 to Worthing.
It must be noted that Hill never gave up, nor let their heads drop. The 12 boys having to play the whole match, whereas Worthing had 3 subs to call on, probably caught up with them towards the end, but another day, the result could easily have been reversed such was the close matched skill sets of the two teams.
Hot dogs and drinks all round for the players were richly deserved.
Thank you to James the referee, who again showed his class to keep the game flowing and thank you to all the parents who came to cheer us on and help organise and clear up.
